Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

Licensed Natural Medicine Services

In 2022, the citizens of Colorado passed Proposition 122. One part of this legislation has been the implementation of licensed, regulated natural medicine services in Colorado. At the current time, this means some patients in our state will have access to psilocybin assisted therapy. While this treatment is not for everyone, some research evidence suggests that combining psilocybin with psychotherapy can be profoundly helpful for addressing depression and death anxiety. This form of treatment may also be helpful for people who have experienced trauma, symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, and chronic pain.

OUR SERVICES

Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy

Most experts agree that psychedelics are most likely to be beneficial for mental health when the use of these medicines is combined with high quality psychotherapy. The state of Colorado requires that natural medicine services include preparation, administration, and integration services. Our clinic strongly believes that psychedelic assisted psychotherapy is most effective when participants have built relationships with their providers and feel very safe in those relationships. We are committed to building those relationships with the people whom we guide in the psychedelic space!

Safe, Supported Psychedelic Treatment

In order to be eligible for natural medicine services in Colorado, many participants will be required to receive consultation and services from clinically licensed facilitators. If you are thinking about seeking psychedelic assisted therapy for mental health, it is important to choose providers who understand how psychedelics interact with other medications, how trauma might impact this kind of work, and how to manage the anxiety that can sometimes come up when people use these medicines.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT PSYCHEDELIC THERAPY

FAQs

For some people, psychedelic assisted therapy can offer the possibility of truly transformational growth.

Who is a good candidate for psychedelic assisted therapy?

Psychedelic assisted therapy can be a particularly good modality for people seeking the opportunity to do deeper psychological work and exploration. Research suggests this modality may be an important option for people that have not found healing from more traditional forms of mental health treatment. It is important to note that pursuing psychedelic assisted therapy requires a willingness to invest time and energy in psychological work that, at times, can be challenging.

Psychedelic assisted therapy is not appropriate for everyone. People with certain mental health or medical conditions and people on certain medications may not be good candidates. Psychedelic assisted therapy does not offer a “quick” or “easy” fix. Engaging in these modalities requires courage and the willingness to truly do the work.
